Ana Cabrita, PhD student and member of the LUSO project, recently presented her latest research at the prestigious 15th International Congress of Social Psychology. Her
presentation, titled ”The Structure of Luso-tropicalism and its Legitimizing Role in Intergroup Attitudes” highlighted novel findings on how Luso-tropicalist beliefs contribute to the justification of discriminatory attitudes.
Preliminary results from her study indicate that individuals who strongly endorse Luso-tropicalist ideologies are more likely to oppose affirmative action and reparation policies.
Moreover, these individuals tend to express greater support for discriminatory attitudes.
